June 28, 2025
, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will deploy an enhancement in the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) Production environment that will increase the number of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) numbers allowed per entry summary line. This enhancement will enable filers to include
up to 16 HTS numbers
on one entry summary line, including for Reconciliation and Drawback entry summaries. The current limit is 8 HTS numbers per entry summary line.
This update was deployed to the ACE Certification environment June 14, and an updated version of the
ACE CATAIR Error Dictionary
(v43) is now posted under Draft Chapters: Future Capabilities section on CBP.gov. This update includes the following new error code:
852: HTS OUT OF SEQUENCE
This error is returned if the order of HTS numbers on a line does not conform to the sequence specified below:
1.       If more than one Ch 98 is submitted, summary will be accepted without validating the HTS sequence (e.g., watches)
-or-
2.       If there is one Ch. 98 submitted, HTS numbers must be in the following sequence:
a.       Chapter 98
b.       Chapter 99
c.       Chapter 1 to 97 Commodity HTS
-or-
If there is no Ch. 98 submitted, HTS numbers must be in the following sequence:
a.       Chapter 99
b.       Chapter 1 to 97 Commodity HTS
