Section 609 of Public Law 101-162 requires the Department of State to certify to Congress which nations harvesting shrimp are eligible to import that shrimp into the United States. Pursuant to that requirement, wild-caught shrimp from Peru with Date of Export June 1, 2025, and after, and products from that shrimp, will be prohibited from import into the United States.
Starting June 1, 2025, when submitting a PGA Message Set with data for the Office of Marine Conservation (OMC), Peru (PE) will no longer be a valid country code when using the conformance declaration code “7B”. The country code PE has been removed from US Customs and Border Protection’s CERTIFICATION (test) region for trade testing purposes.
